The MX204 is a compact 1U edge router offering up to 400 Gbps of full-duplex throughput. It runs the full-featured Junos OS on Trio silicon, providing carrier-class Ethernet routing, switching and service features. Its fixed configuration delivers high-density 10/40/100 GbE interfaces in a small footprint: four rate-selectable QSFP ports and eight SFP+ 10 GbE ports.
Ideal deployment / environment: The MX204 is well suited as a universal edge router or metro-aggregation platform for service providers, cloud providers or large enterprises requiring high throughput and flexible interface density in a compact form factor. Its support for 100 GbE uplinks and 10/40/100 GbE aggregation makes it ideal for data-centre interconnects, mobile backhaul, broadband aggregation, or high-capacity peering roles.
Additionally, programmable routing and service features, along with carrier-grade timing and synchronisation, make the MX204 a strong fit for metro Ethernet networks, telecom edge sites, multi-tenant aggregation points, and bandwidth-intensive WAN environments.
