Large campus and data centre networks require higher port density and bandwidth without increasing hardware footprint. Fixed platforms can restrict expansion and increase costs. The HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series addresses this with dense, high-capacity switching for core, aggregation, and spine roles.

They are deployed in campus cores and data centre fabrics connecting multiple network layers. These switches support higher connection density, reduce space requirements, and allow networks to scale without adding more devices.

Designing & Supporting HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series Solutions

Backed by decades of expertise in the IT sector, our specialists support every stage of your deployment — from initial selection through to long-term lifecycle management.

  • Tailored Switch Selection: Our specialists evaluate your network environment from the ground up — port density, uplink requirements, PoE budgets, VLAN complexity, and throughput demands all considered before a recommendation is made. Whether you’re refreshing an office access layer, connecting a factory floor, or building out a data centre fabric, you get the right switch for your environment, not an over-engineered or underpowered compromise.
  • Deployment & Integration: Our engineers manage end-to-end switch installation and network integration — cabling infrastructure, stack configuration, inter-VLAN routing, and integration with existing firewalls, wireless controllers, and management platforms — fully configured and tested so your team inherits a working network from day one.
  • Network Visibility & Security: Choosing the right management software and licensing is critical to getting full value from your switching infrastructure. Our specialists help you identify the right vendor platform for your needs — covering network-wide visibility, switch management, security monitoring, and analytics and reporting.

  • Industrial & Harsh Environments: Our team has hands-on experience deploying managed switches in demanding conditions — production facilities, outdoor enclosures, transportation infrastructure, and sites with extreme temperature, vibration, or dust exposure. We specify and commission ruggedised switching hardware built to perform where standard office-grade equipment would not.
  • Data Centre & High-Density Switching: Our consultants provide specialist guidance on spine-leaf architectures, 25/100GbE deployments, low-latency fabrics, and ToR switching configurations — helping your team build scalable, resilient data centre networks without starting the design process from scratch.
  • Lifecycle Support & Management: We provide proactive switch monitoring, firmware management, and support packages built around your network infrastructure — with remote diagnostic capability and response times matched to the criticality of each environment, from a branch office to a production data centre.
  • Strategy & Roadmapping: Our consultants run structured sessions to assess your current network architecture, identify bottlenecks and risk, and produce a clear switching roadmap — whether you’re consolidating a multi-site estate, planning a data centre refresh, or introducing managed switching to an industrial environment for the first time.

HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series FAQ

How do the six models within the HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series divide by role and port type?

The six models divide by port type and speed. The CX8360-12C is a pure 100GbE spine switch. The CX8360-24XF2C uses 10GbE fibre SFP+ ports for legacy access or top-of-rack deployments. The CX8360-48XT4C uses copper Smart Rate Base-T ports for server connections via copper cabling. The CX8360-16Y2C, 32Y4C, and 48Y6C use SFP28 downlinks at 25GbE or 50GbE, suited to campus aggregation or modern data centre top-of-rack roles.

Does the HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series require cloud management to operate?

No. All models are fully manageable on-premises via CLI, web interface, and REST API. HPE Aruba Networking Central is optional and provides cloud-based visibility and unified management across wired, wireless, and WAN. An HPE Aruba Networking Central Advanced subscription also activates the CX Advanced Feature Pack, which unlocks additional capabilities and removes the need to manage them as separate licences.

Which HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series models support MACsec, and what does it protect?

MACsec is supported on the CX8360-48Y6C and CX8360-32Y4C, on a subset of their ports. It encrypts traffic on the physical cable between switches, protecting against interception where links pass through areas outside the organisation’s direct physical control — such as cross-building runs or shared cabling infrastructure. It protects the wire between trusted endpoints and does not replace access control at the port level.

Which HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series models support 50GbE, and when is that speed relevant?

50GbE is available on the CX8360-48Y6C, CX8360-32Y4C, and CX8360-16Y2C, using SFP56 transceivers in the same physical ports that otherwise run at 25G. 50GbE suits environments where servers or storage devices have 50G network interfaces. Using 50G rather than two 25G connections per device halves the number of switch ports consumed per server.

What does HPE Aruba Networking Fabric Composer do for data centre deployments of the HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series?

Fabric Composer treats a group of CX 8360 switches as a single managed fabric rather than individual devices. Network policies and routing configurations are applied across the whole fabric through one interface, rather than pushed to each switch separately. This reduces the manual work of building and maintaining leaf-spine topologies at scale.

When does the HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series fit rather than the CX 8325 Series?

The HPE Aruba CX 8360 Series suits environments that need port variety across a single platform — spine, aggregation, and top-of-rack — or where MACsec at the 25G or 50G layer is required. The CX 8325 provides higher per-switch throughput, DC power, and validated HPE storage/HCI compatibility, making it the better choice for dense, storage-focused data centre environments.
