Designing & Supporting HPE Aruba Industrial Switching Solutions

Backed by decades of expertise in the IT sector, our specialists support every stage of your deployment — from initial selection through to long-term lifecycle management.

  • Tailored Switch Selection: Our specialists evaluate your network environment from the ground up — port density, uplink requirements, PoE budgets, VLAN complexity, and throughput demands all considered before a recommendation is made. Whether you’re refreshing an office access layer, connecting a factory floor, or building out a data centre fabric, you get the right switch for your environment, not an over-engineered or underpowered compromise.
  • Deployment & Integration: Our engineers manage end-to-end switch installation and network integration — cabling infrastructure, stack configuration, inter-VLAN routing, and integration with existing firewalls, wireless controllers, and management platforms — fully configured and tested so your team inherits a working network from day one.
  • Network Visibility & Security: Choosing the right management software and licensing is critical to getting full value from your switching infrastructure. Our specialists help you identify the right vendor platform for your needs — covering network-wide visibility, switch management, security monitoring, and analytics and reporting.

  • Industrial & Harsh Environments: Our team has hands-on experience deploying managed switches in demanding conditions — production facilities, outdoor enclosures, transportation infrastructure, and sites with extreme temperature, vibration, or dust exposure. We specify and commission ruggedised switching hardware built to perform where standard office-grade equipment would not.
  • Data Centre & High-Density Switching: Our consultants provide specialist guidance on spine-leaf architectures, 25/100GbE deployments, low-latency fabrics, and ToR switching configurations — helping your team build scalable, resilient data centre networks without starting the design process from scratch.
  • Lifecycle Support & Management: We provide proactive switch monitoring, firmware management, and support packages built around your network infrastructure — with remote diagnostic capability and response times matched to the criticality of each environment, from a branch office to a production data centre.
  • Strategy & Roadmapping: Our consultants run structured sessions to assess your current network architecture, identify bottlenecks and risk, and produce a clear switching roadmap — whether you’re consolidating a multi-site estate, planning a data centre refresh, or introducing managed switching to an industrial environment for the first time.

HPE Aruba Industrial Switching FAQ

What is the difference between the 12-Port and 24-Port models within HPE Aruba Industrial Switching?

Both models are fanless with the same IP30 rating, temperature range, industrial certifications, and feature set. The 12-Port model is designed for DIN rail mounting in industrial control cabinets. The 24-Port model is a 1U rack-mount design with twice the port count and four 10GbE SFP+ uplinks rather than two. Both can also be mounted in the alternative format with an optional kit.

What environmental conditions can HPE Aruba Industrial Switching operate in?

Both models are rated IP30, protecting against solid objects larger than 2.5mm such as tools or wire ends. With HPE Aruba Networking industrial transceivers, the switches operate from -40°C to +70°C. Without industrial transceivers, the operating temperature is derated to 50°C. Both use passive cooling with no moving parts.

What do the industrial compliance certifications on HPE Aruba Industrial Switching cover?

The series holds certifications across three regulated environments. For electrical substations, it meets IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613, which define tolerance requirements for electromagnetic interference, temperature, and power quality in utility environments. For railway applications, it meets EN 50121-3-2 and EN 50121-4 for rolling stock and signalling, and EN 50155 for electronic equipment on railway vehicles.

How is the PoE budget structured on HPE Aruba Industrial Switching?

Both models combine two PoE classes — Class 4 (30W per port) for most access devices and Class 6 (60W per port) for higher-power devices such as Wi-Fi 7 access points or PTZ cameras. The total PoE budget reaches up to 360W, though this reduces at higher ambient temperatures. Both models support AC and DC external power supplies, allowing deployment in industrial environments where only DC power distribution is available.

What power supply options does HPE Aruba Industrial Switching support, and can power be made redundant?

Both models use external power supplies, ordered separately, with a choice of AC and DC inputs to match the power distribution available on site. The 12-Port DIN rail model supports redundant DC power inputs — two separate DC supplies can be connected so that if one fails, the other continues to power the switch and all connected devices without interruption. This is a common requirement in substation and railway environments where the switch itself cannot be taken offline.

What does always-on PoE mean for devices connected to HPE Aruba Industrial Switching?

Always-on PoE maintains power to connected devices during scheduled reboots and firmware upgrades. In industrial deployments — such as cameras, sensors, or access points in locations without secondary power — this means the powered device stays online while the switch updates, rather than dropping offline until the reboot completes. This is a deliberate design decision for environments where device downtime has operational consequences.
