AI Readiness Assessment Guide

Our AI readiness assessments identify capability gaps, investment priorities and the practical steps required to move from AI concept to deployment.

What is an AI Readiness Assessment?

An AI Readiness Assessment reviews whether an organisation is prepared to design, deploy and operate AI workloads. It examines intended use cases alongside data, compute, storage, networking, facilities, software, security, governance, skills and operational support to identify gaps before implementation.

Who it’s for

Organisations exploring AI, machine learning or generative AI; teams moving from pilot to production; and businesses planning GPU, HPC or AI infrastructure investment.

Common use cases

Generative AI copilots & RAG Internal copilots, knowledge assistants and data retrieval
Private AI environments AI kept on-premises or private cloud for sensitive or regulated data
Model training & fine-tuning GPU-intensive model training, tuning and experimentation
Production AI inference AI models serving users, customers or automated processes at scale
Shared enterprise GPU platforms Central GPU infrastructure shared across multiple teams
AI & HPC convergence Machine learning, simulation and analytics on shared accelerated infrastructure

How Our AI Readiness Assessment Works

The assessment follows a structured six-stage process, moving from initial discovery and evidence gathering through gap analysis, recommendations and a clear action plan.

Stage 01 Discovery & Scope

Agree the AI initiatives, priority workloads, locations and infrastructure layers in scope, and confirm the stakeholders, data sources, constraints and success criteria that ground the assessment in real requirements rather than generic capability.

Our Assessment Best Practices

These principles guide how we assess the environment, test requirements and develop practical recommendations.

Align AI with Business Objectives

We start by understanding what the organisation wants the AI project to achieve, then assess whether the infrastructure can support it.

Start with Defined Use Cases

We assess specific models, applications or AI use cases so infrastructure requirements are based on real workloads rather than broad assumptions.

Assess the Full Infrastructure Stack

We review compute, GPU, memory, storage, networking, data movement, power, cooling and management together to identify where constraints may occur.

Use Representative Workloads

We use realistic workload characteristics such as model size, dataset size, concurrency and usage patterns when assessing capacity and performance.

Plan for Future Scale

We account for expected growth in models, datasets, users and AI services so recommendations are not sized only for immediate demand.

Build Operational Readiness

We also review monitoring, support, security, governance, skills and operating processes so the environment can be managed after deployment.

Assessment Deliverables

Following the assessment, you receive a clear set of findings, recommendations and next steps based on the environment and workloads reviewed.

AI Readiness Assessment Guide FAQ

How do I know if an AI Readiness Assessment is right for our organisation?

An AI Readiness Assessment is useful when you need to understand whether your organisation can invest in, deploy or scale AI workloads.

The assessment can support early exploration, a move from pilot to production or planning for new GPU infrastructure by giving decision-makers evidence about workload needs and current constraints. We identify what needs attention before investment; discuss your AI plans with our team.

Can our current infrastructure support the AI workloads we’re planning?

We compare planned AI workload requirements with available compute, storage, networking and facility capacity to identify what the existing environment can support.

We first establish workload objectives and expected growth, then assess the infrastructure against those needs. This shows where systems can be retained, where performance or capacity is lacking and what should change before investment is committed.

Where are the bottlenecks likely to appear, and how will you identify them?

We assess how compute, data, networking and facility conditions work together to identify constraints that could affect AI workload performance or growth.

Rather than treating each system in isolation, we use evidence from the environment and planned workloads to distinguish blockers from lower-priority issues. Your team can then focus investment and technical work on the constraints most likely to affect results.

Can our data centre support the power, cooling and density requirements of AI infrastructure?

We compare the proposed AI equipment’s power, cooling and rack-density requirements with the capacity available across your data centre infrastructure.

This identifies facility constraints before hardware is selected, including where power distribution or heat removal may be insufficient. Addressing those requirements early can prevent unexpected infrastructure work, deployment delays or choosing equipment the site cannot support.

What information and access will you need, and will the assessment disrupt live services?

We use existing technical documentation, workload priorities and stakeholder input, preferring read-only access to limit unnecessary interaction with live systems.

Your architecture and infrastructure information gives us a starting point for understanding requirements and constraints. Any testing that could affect production performance is agreed in advance and carried out under a controlled plan with your technical team.

What needs to change before we move AI workloads from pilot to production?

We identify and prioritise the infrastructure, operational and capacity changes needed to support planned AI workloads as they move beyond the pilot stage.

The findings explain what needs attention first, why it matters and which dependencies must be addressed before wider deployment. This gives technical teams a plan and decision-makers a basis for investment; discuss your next steps with our team.
